I picked up a beautiful rhubarb plant at a plant sale yesterday.

Should I put this perennial in my veggie garden? Reading about its toxicity, and its very tart flavor in general, has me wondering if it's worth the risk.

Is it used for anything besides pie, which also requires a boatload of sugar?

Good question.  My waistline just can't handle warm rhubarb pie ala mode these days! drool

I have a couple plants.  I chew on a stalk occasionally when I'm in the garden, but haven't done anything else with them in a couple years.  Rhubarb plants get big (maybe 3x3 feet) , and don't seem to be fussy.  I wouldn't waste the space in the veggie garden.

Plunk it in the ground away from the regular beds, just in case you want to expand.  That's what I would do, or did.
