DH's slaw
DH makes his Mother's non-traditional cabbage slaw. We frequently bring to gatherings of family and friends and it is ALWAYS a hit.
Super simple.
Shredded cabbage - plain, green head cabbage
Diced green onions - whites and greens
Vegetable oil - I use canola oil but you can use any vegetable oil EXCEPT olive oil.
Plain white vinegar
Sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste.
Toss together cabbage and green onions. Add enough oil to coat all pieces but not so much that it puddles in the bowl. Add vinegar and toss as you add. You want enough vinegar for a little bit of bite and to slightly wilt the cabbage.
Salt and pepper then enjoy.
