Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
A salad with lettuce and rocket, and table-ripened tomatoes. My first celeriac - a little small but not bad for my first try. It had hints of purple in the lower portions of flesh. I've never seen that before. Purple-fleshed celeriac would be fun. Also, my first Jerusalem artichoke of the season.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Veggie burger with some sliced red onion and the last large tomato from the garden.
Into the soup pot went some Swiss chard, sliced cherry tomatoes, mustard spinach, garlic, chopped white onions from the freezer and some Chicken of the woods mushrooms from the freezer.
Dwarf kale went into the blender for tomorrow mornings smoothie.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
A leek (grown by digging out most of MM in the square before transplanting, and slowly filling it in over time - recently progressed to mounding above box-level), some parsley, and some rosemary went into a gluten-free Pennsylvania Dutch "potpie."
I love having fresh herbs! And I don't know quite why (variety? growing conditions? age at harvest?) but my leeks are definitely more tender than store-bought. Just a few months before I start next year's crop of leeks....

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Leeks ... yummy. I grew one square of them this year. They were much smaller than the store bought ones but made a nice leek & potato soup. I was thinking of not growing them in 2017 but I may have a change of mind and give them a square or two. Perhaps a "top hat" over those squares would work well to allow more MM to be added around them to keep the stems white.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Blanched and frozen green/yellow/purple beans, one last tomato (the other green ones have not yet ripened), and herbs (parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, + dill for the green beans. Possibly a radicchio leaf or two for the salad.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Pulled tomatoes out of the freezer. Have a leek (have more but only harvested one) also. Beans from SUE'S vine!! I'm so excited. I thought I was getting nothing and I have a dollar store dish pan full of green beans. Also kale. I'm going to pulverize the kale and hide it in the tomatoes and leek and make a pot full of tomato green beans. The leek is just because I grew it. I'll have to add white onion. After it's cooked, I'll divide it up and freeze it to have for a side this winter.

I'll be putting cucumber ice cubes into the Vitamix when I make my green smoothie. A cool reminder of the joys of the hot summer SFG.

Ice cube envy here! That's something I've always wanted to do but even with 12 plants I never get enough cukes.
One of these years I'll get it right.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Black Spanish Radish. Heirloom. Huge plant. The radish is about the size of a golf ball. Gave the greens to the rabbit. The meat was leathery and tough, so I probably should have picked it sooner, but it's fine thin sliced. I don't like radishes, so I'll have to report on the flavor, tomorrow, after Hubby eats it. The packet says it's a good fall/winter crop, so if Hubby likes it, I'll plant some more and see how they grow in cold weather.
