Planted 5-1/2 squares of Yukon potatoes.
Today harvested the last couple squares.  These were much bigger, good fist size.
Next year be more patient!

Total from all squares is 18 pounds, 15- 1/4 ounces.  Or almost 3-1/2 pounds per square.

My best results from a few years back I think was closer to almost 5 pounds/sq.ft.

That's awesome llama momma!

When did you plant the seeds?

The Yukon Gold seed potatoes were planted May 1st.  Today is August 1 so that should be 92 days.  Yukon. Gold is suppose to be ready about 65 to 95 days.

Thanks. I've got two yukon containers that I started at the end of May, so I think I'll wait until the end of Aug to try and harvest. Most of my plants are still flowering, but I've notice that leaves near the soil are turning yellow and brown. I've got my fingers crossed that this means they're starting to die off instead of disease.  Patience...

I was just thinking the other day (when I saw how pretty the flowers on the blue potato plant are) that I have to re-research when and how to harvest potatoes.  I have one plant that I "hilled" by putting a broken flowerpot (later a bottomless 5-gallon bucket) around the plant, and filled it with MM/soil. The second (blue) one, has been so neglected, I didn't do a lot of hilling, so the plant itself is kinda wild & vine-y. I doubt I'll get as many from that, as there's less plant underground.
They both look green and still growing, with no signs of yellow or brown, so I guess it's not time for harvesting yet.
[This has been a very Lazy-fair growing season for me--not even enough effort to honor with the phrase laissez faire]

Pretty sure the biggest potatoes came from those with yellow stems also with yellow and brown crunchy looking leaves.
