Green Potatoes
I found a potato growing under some kale, and it's green. Can I cover it up and let it finish growing? Will it turn the "normal" color? I've heard you can't eat them green, but wondering will it go back? Thanks!!

Re: Green Potatoes
No, the green won't go away. But you can just cut the green part off, and eat the rest with no problems.
"They" say that one would have to eat a lot of green to get sick, but I haven't experimented with that!

Re: Green Potatoes
Thank you Boffer! I moved some of the wood chips away from our kale, and found a big old tater laying there! It's only the tip it looks like, so we'll cut off the green part. I can't believe the potatoes we're finding Didn't really officially plant any of these, and sort of randomly coming across them! Kinda like early Easter? lol

Re: Green Potatoes
That's true Rose! We had an awesome cauliflower pop up in the chips NEVER planted it, now there's another one?? The potatoes; I THINK they're potatoes we had that had crazy "eyes" growing, and we just shoved them under the chips.......lol!! So crazy how they're growing, and that kale, I can't stop it! Finally pulled the dinosaur kale, and gonna start some new. The other got sooooo tall it was shading out our new maters! CANT have that !!FamilyGardening wrote:self seeded potatoes.....cool!!!.....perhaps some critter has moved some of your seed potatoes around for you I know we lose things like garlic and end up with lots of bulb flowers ....LOL....we have all kinds of things growing that we did not plant....ha ha ha.....
