Looking for Kilner  &  mason jars a few minutes ago  I came across " Weck " jars that have the original type  Mason/ Kilner  rubber seal and glass lid but instead of having a screw band or an over centre clip they have two small stainless steel spring clips that spring over lips on the jar rim and lid .

So that when you water bath or pressure sterilise jars they act in the same manner.

Does any one have experience of these jars ?

I'm interested in finding out more about them .

They seem a fraction of the cost of Mason or Kilner jars.

The fact that you are advised to slacken off the screw bands on Kilner & Mason jars would leave the jars in the same state as Weck jars
 ie.
The lid is held in place by vacuum if the process was done correctly  , you would have to break the vacuum by "  pulling "  the seal when opening a jar so any spoilt stuff would not have a vacuum.

they work well and should be cheaper for you because they're made in Europe. there are a few previous posts about them.

Yup much cheaper , I'm a cheapskate Laughing  , want a new Rolls Royce for the price of a clapped out Ford Ka .
They are just over half price of a Mason/Kilner jar if you buy in 30's .
