Hi from Canada!
Hello everyone!
My name is Steph and I'm from Quebec, Canada.
I just signed up for the SFG Online Certification course and I'm excited to be a part of the forum. I love to garden and the more I get to learn the better.
I'm a full-time student with a Bachelor in History and now studying in Recreation Programming. I would love to one day bring gardening courses to local community centres. Many community centres have environmental departments but there are few options for activities available. I'd love to share the joy of gardening with others, citizens in my community and young students as well.
I started gardening about 3 years ago and went from a small very disorganized dirt patch to now having much more space that is organized and a lot more well thought out. But I'm always learning new things, I'm learning every day ! I started SFG this year and have two 4x4 raised beds - one is in partial shade, the other is in full sun. One was a gift from my boyfriend and the other was a project that my dad and I undertook together. I've also got stuff planted in an in-ground garden that I sectioned off in a make-shift way to be able to SFG there as well. I'm all about using what I have since as a student my budget isn't very high.
I started gardening at around the same time that I became serious about my health and fitness goals. I started running the year before and in a year had progressed to running half marathons, the year after when I was starting my first garden I was training for my first ultra marathon. Running, strength training went hand in hand with healthy eating which was a big reason why I started gardening. It also appealed to the curious me. I love seeing a seed grow into something that I can actually eat. It's amazing!
This year I created a seating area in my garden all on my own and needless to say, I'm there every day :)Even sometimes when it's raining!
I blog often about my garden and running here: seestephyrun.tumblr.com
Glad to be part of this!
