Please help me to get started! How much MM?
I am new to all things gardening and am going to make an attempt at my first SFG. I am only going to do one bed this year and because of my space, it will be an 8 x 2 bed. I am trying to figure out how many bags of each...peat moss, vermiculite, and compost (I know I will have to purchase 5 different bags of this but how big should each bag be) I will need to purchase. If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it!

Just read the thread that Rooster has supplied.
Happy to hear you are starting small.

Thank you for that calculator! That will be really helpful.
I hope you don't mind, but I have a couple more questions...
I am trying to figure out what to plant in my garden depending on what I buy most at the grocery store. Since I am only planting one small bed to start with, I don't want to experiment too much with things I don't use regularly. I buy green beans usually about once a week so I want to plant some bean bushes. I notice in the book that you can plant 9 bushes in one of the squares, but I am wondering if that would be too many. Do you know about how many beans 9 plants would produce? Also if I decided to plant maybe only 6 bushes, would I be able to plant something else in the remaining 3 spaces, or is it best not to mix different things in the same square?
Thank you again for your help. Since I have never done any type of gardening before, this is all like a foreign language to me!

Welcome, kmarie! I'm in Indiana, too - Demotte in the NW corner. I can't answer your question about beans as I didn't have a lot of luck with them last year, which was the first time I grew them, but wanted to say "hi".
