Strawberry Planting
is it too late to try growing strawberries from seeds in the south. I got 5 squares left open and want to find something to try and plant there

Re: Strawberry Planting
You can get strawberry plants pretty cheap at places like Walmart and Home Depot. I would think from seed would take forever! Either way though, you're not going to get a huge crop this year, but you help out next year's crop by snipping any flowers before July, and cutting off all of this years runners.
Re: Strawberry Planting
from seed you wouldnt get a harvest this season at all but if you buy transplants of the everbearing variety you might get a fall harvest its a little too late for a june bearing variety unless its a transplant thats well established already

Re: Strawberry Planting
I've heard strawberries take 3 years from seed. I'd head to Home Depot!
