Hi all,

This could be a lot of fun (fingers crossed) - I remember seeing grandparents gardens when very young like 40 years ago and very good gardens they were.

Hope the garden gene has been passed onto me. I have a very small backyard and have so far put a dwarf lemon tree into a pot and planted out 4 chilli plants. The chilli plants have started to get black bits on the stems, this is what led me to your site. I think I am already guilty of over loving my plants and have given them too much water...

If I stop will the spots go away?

I look forward to learning and growing with you.

Cheers Col

glad you\'re here
This forum follows the teaching of the book ALL NEW SQUAREFOOT GARDENING and you will mostly see posts dealing with the method. But we do have a section on non squarefoot gardening where we welcome other gardeners and encourage/assist when we can. Posting pictures of the problem or just to show off is highly encouraged.

Look at this post about black on peppers.

The gene is always passed on if you want it Smile
I just love having down under gardeners to hear from when it is wintry here. I know nothing about Chilis but but I am sure someone will know.
WELCOME

Black spots at the junction of stems is normal in chili (pepper) plants. if there are black spots mid stem that is something else entirely. Can you post a photo?
