We are a diabetic household as well, along with fighting high cholesterol. I tend to be an obsessive label reader these days! I can't remember which 'natural' peanut butter it was, but one of them actually does add a hydrogenated oil to make it a 'no stir natural' peanut butter. By law for labeling, if the trans-fat is below a certain percentage per serving it can be rounded down to 0. Margerines and all kinds of other foods use that legal labeling trick as well and tout their products as '0 Trans-Fat per Serving'. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! Means I always have to take my reading glasses with me to read labels if I am getting anything other than produce. Thankfully Hubby is on board with my diet and we have greatly reduced the amount of commercially canned goods and/or processed products.

Hi Ericam,

I grew some peanuts this year for the first time as well. and had exactly the same questions, Very Happy
Eventually i had a dig around the base and felt about. After the plants started to yellow off i pulled them up and low and behold, peanuts!!! I just roasted them on an oven tray in the oven and we enjoyed eating them. Not a huge amount, as i only had four plants, but next year i plan to grow them again. I found them an interesting, and fun.

Well it took me a while but I finally roasted the peanuts tonight and we had them for supper.

We had a few empty shells and some with peanuts so tiny they weren't edible. I ate at least half my share before I thought to take a pic.
