What have you got planted? Can you cover? They are predicting 35F here in Atlanta tonight, and I am so glad that I haven't gotten around to planting most of my seedlings yet. I thought about putting some straw over it, but most of what I've got planted is potatoes and cool weather crops, so they are just going to have to tough it out.

Stupid weather.

I have lettuce, radishes, peas. carrots, strawberrys, onions, which I was able to cever with cotton sheets. Will do the same tonight for protection, because it was frosty this morning...sam

You can cover them with plastic like the ANSFG book advises you to do. I have been covering mine in Maryland almost every night just to keep the soil warm. We were down to 35deg a few nights ago.

Corn, peas, onions, garlic, spinach, lettuce, potatos, radish, Broc., Brus Sprouts, Caul., Carrots, beets, all doing well in Maryland. (Picking Fresh Rom. Lettuce for my salad- SWEET!!!)

I covered corn, green beans and crowder peas.. and new mustard greens.. left the lettuces and the likes uncovered... I am glad I covered for their was a frost here in NC

We had frost warnings the last two nights with actual frost on the ground this morning after more than a month with no frost. I covered my whole tomato bed with plastic, converting it basically into a greenhouse since I had to cover the whole overhead frame for the string trellises. I left the lettuces, spinach, peas, and other early season plants uncovered. So far, so good! It's supposed to warm back up at night above 40 tonight, and be warmer after that.

Did you pilot in Vietnam? I saw the plane..

So many of my era went to nam is why i ask. some of my potatoes got burned last nite.. I ran out of time and covered with straw on those. But think they will be ok.

Thanks. We still fly lots of C-130's today, though they are much newer models than those that flew in Vietnam. My dad served 2 years in Vietnam, but my service was more recent. I am (recently) retired from the Air Force, where I served as a flight surgeon and aerovac member.

A flight SURGEON??? I had no idea that existed. Hope you didn't do delicate surgery in turbulence! Shocked
