Over 21 C here in Hamilton, Ontario today. I got the yard raked and my SFG soil turned over. Onion, lettuce, and pepper seeds planted already with seedlings up and tomato seeds go in this weekend. With this weather I believe I will get my peas in the garden by the end of the month with no problem at all. So excited to get my hands dirty!!!!!

do you have to turn the SFG bed because the weight of the snow compacts it? Happy springTurned over my SFG today! 498988

Although you enthusiastically turned over your soil, you did not need to. Very Happy Sounds like work to me and my garden is no longer work.

I also have to turn up my garden mix because it does get quite compacted from the winter time and to integrate fresh compost.

To me "turning over my soil" is adding some new compost and stirring it up to get it down under. Usually do it square by square and stir with my hands as I can also get any big roots I may have missed. I call it fuffing up the MM. Very Happy

I probably should have turned up my garden today, but I've been waiting for a good day to get some painting done for my new business, so I did that instead.

I hope I have enough time to devote to the garden this year. I'll probably be doing less from seed and more from plants. But I'd like to integrate my gardening with the business and plan to move the blog to wordpress from blogger. Fingers crossed.
