Safe to move?

I've got starts from the following plants growing inside under lights. They are old enough to have second leaves on the cole crops and onions/leeks are 3-4" tall. I've been putting them outside on the porch in the daytime for a bit of hardening off and more normal lighting. They are going outside in their tray with a 7" clear dome on it for protection.
I need to know if it would be safe to move them into an unheated greenhouse at this point, so their lighting will be normal and the hardening off process can continue. They would keep their tray and dome. We have been having night-time temps in the mid to upper 30's but the greenhouse hasn't dropped much below 45 or so.
Brocolli, Kale, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Brussels Sprouts, Onions and Leeks.

This is the first time in many years that we've decided to use seeds and not just buy transplants, so my memory is a bit foggy on this one.

Hopefully LavenderDebs' reply to you in another thread helped you with an answer to this. I would say yes, but what do I know? I've never hardened off seedlings in my life! Laughing

I have a question about your onions because onions confuse me. Apparently they can be grown from "sets" or from "seeds", but I picked up a bag of little dried up bulbs at Lowes this week. I guess you treat them just like garlic cloves. Is that the kind you started indoors, or did you start them from seed?

I guess I'll hold off for a little while longer on those babies.

I planted seed for both the onions and leeks. I've tried sets before with little success, but might try a bag of them as well to see which does better. It could be that I crowded the sets, or didn't water them enough or something. I believe I read that one does better in our short season than the other, but am willing to settle for "scallions" or green onions.
I've had good luck with the leeks in the past, but they are a long season crop.

In spring our local grain and feed store has barrels of onion sets for sale by weight and I will take the time to pick out the ones I want. If you are going to buy onion sets, get the smallest bulbs you can...they will make the best onions. Wink
