I used 2" x 8" x 8' Redwood from Home Depot it was $12.97 a board and cut them on a 45° and used deck screws and plumbers tape to attach the corners.
Here is a corner I didn't cut at a 45 but you can see the plumbers tape.

This is what I did
I used No.2 pressure treated pine decking, an actual 5/4" but called a 1"x6" so extra sturdy. Lowe's has them in 16' lengths for under $10 each. I built 2 that were 16'x32" and double stacked so they were 11" high. I built 2 that were 8'x36", double stacked so 11" high. A 4'x3'x11" and a potato tower. I've got enough left over that I'm considering a strawberry tower or a cucumber trellis....
