rotating squares throughout the season

How do you seasonally rotate your squares. I should be able to get 3 different plantings into each square, but I can't quite figure that out. Can somebody post a plan of how you do that?

I get two plantings on _most_ squares. Three on some.

Over time, I have learned that I can plant earlier in the season, and later as well...

Example. I plant a lot of head lettuce a couple weeks before last frost. They do fine with a light frost. These get cut in about 60 days or so. Then I can plant beans or squash. Another 60 days and another crop. In fall, I plant spinach, kale, and carrots.

Some crops take so long that I don't get three. Peppers and tomatoes take quite a while...

First, figure out what you can grow in your area, and that you like, and in which season they will grow in your area.

example: square # 1

spring--lettuce

summer-zucchini

winter--borccoli

I don't try to figure it out ahead of time. When a square gets empty, I just plant something that will grow.

Thanks...I'm almost positive I don't have the knowledge to just wing it. I was really confused about how to do it with the tomato plants especially. I just realized about 3 days ago that I could even plant spring plants. Embarassed

If anybody has a link, I'd appreciate it! I'm in zone 6a.

Well, for me, I know where I'll put the tomato plants, when it gets warm enough.

I put onions on the very edge of the tomato boxes. If they are not quite big enough, I'll just plant the tomato plants in the center of the square, then before the tomato gets big enough to require the room, I'll have pulled the onions.

You could probably be planting peas, lettuce, spinach, collards,even broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage if you could get transplants at the garden store.
