Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
There's a reason my name is AlwaysHotinFL. Current temp: 95 and sunny.
My perfect temp? Sunny and 75, but won't get that for 6 months. SoCal has that market cornered

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Finally, I awoke to the sun peeking over the top of the horizon and trees, filtering in the golden warmth of joy with the perfect temperature. The green of summer haven't arrived yet, so the golds and browns of fall and winter take on a new and gentle warmth that make you feel like the world is a wonderful place to be in, in this spot, at this time. Kinda like inspiration unleashed.

That rain is heading my way. Environment Canada issued a special weather statement. Some areas of the province could get 3 inches of rain with persistent thunderstorms.Scorpio Rising wrote:Pouring down rain and cool here. Everything is fluorescent green colors....especially the weeds!

Don't you have a big tulip festival in Ottawa? I was up there for some IT training in the 90's and I remember everyone saying we just missed it or were just going to miss it. Thought of it yesterday admiring my neighbors tulips.trolleydriver wrote:That rain is heading my way. Environment Canada issued a special weather statement. "Ottawa’s connection to tulips dates back to World War II, when the Dutch Royal Family took refuge in Ottawa—Princess Margriet was born here in 1943, her hospital room declared Dutch soil for the event! Canadian troops also played a pivotal role in liberating the Netherlands. At the end of the war, the Royal Family sent a thank-you gift of 100,000 tulips (and continues to send tulips every year, even to this day!). The Canadian Tulip Festival was established in 1953 as a way of celebrating this gift. The tulip is Ottawa’s official flower."

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Misting rain and 45 degrees right now. High temp of 59 today. We have had over 12 inches of rain in the last week so the tomatoes and peppers are still under the grow lights. Supposed to have more rain Wednesday. A ton of flooding all around us but the raised beds are just fine.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Yesterday was strong storms in the general area. I was at a party and got to watch a small (~6-8" diameter) tree get blown over. And the electricity went out. But it I still think it was one of the best parties I've been to.
Then I had to take an alternate route home because the usual road was closed due to downed trees and wires. The garden was still there when I got home; no trees (or limbs) on it, just MM-splashed lettuces and continuing mud/erosion issues on my main garden path. Putting down woodchips hasn't helped - they just wash away.
Today is somewhat cold (below 55*F) and windy. The seedlings I've been hardening off might not be able to get any outside time today. Most aren't ready for strong winds, and many I'm trying to keep above 55*F to avoid bolting issues.

Been thundering and raining off and on since early and prolly all day. The yard is gonna love it. Jolie who has stiches from getting fixed is sadly gonna miss out on one of her favorite things frolicking in the puddles in the yard
