We had a foggy morning and they calling for foggy mornings all week I am excited hoping for a mushroom crop. I have a ole willow log in the back yard and when it sprouts oyster mushrooms I know its good hunting time. I'll e checking my indicator log every morning
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Well the "Weather" isn't bad, it might even get into the 40's today, but the wind surprises you every now and then. Not a steady wind, but we have had some fairly stout gusts.
My SFG right next to the house is this first pic, this is where my garlic grows, but I can't tell how good it is doing right now.
If you look to the right of the chairs in the second pic (below) you can see the trellis I had my beans growing on, not much happening there either.
Spring is coming, I heard the Cardinals telling us all about it!

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
We have been in the mid to high 40s F for two days and have enjoyed lots of sunshine. Just clouded over and now expecting rain. The snow is melting but there's a long way to go. The city just sent a huge snowblower down my street to widen the driveable area of the road and to reduce the potential for large "lakes" caused by the melting snow.

Record 61 and sunny! Feeling very grateful after seeing the last two posts. Even if I did have to slog through a couple inches of snow to get to my compost pile.

There is "Air Seeds" in there, for the squirrels. They go through that in about 2-3 hours. I only fill that one right before a storm or a cold spell, or when I want some squirrely entertainment. The other 9 are well supplied and much harder for the squirrels to empty.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
We are into our third beautuful sunny day with above freezing temps during the day.
The forecast highs for the next five days are above freezing with a high of 50F (10C) expected on Thursday. There is a chance of rain forecast for each day but the rain will help to speed up the snow melt.
Of course, this nice weather won't last and we could (will) get some nasty winter storms and really cold temps before Spring really arrives.

Blustery; we had a 53 mph gust this morning.
And damp, because of all the snow melt + rain.
Soil temp is 40F.

Wind and rain and wind and rain and wind and rain and I don't think it's ever gonna stop.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
That's great! I have multiple feeders, suet, sunflowers for the birds, and a corn cage for squirrels and I feed them peanut splits, they are fun to,watch! And the blue jays love the peanuts too!bigdogrock wrote:There is "Air Seeds" in there, for the squirrels. They go through that in about 2-3 hours. Howling wind and warm, lots of melting happening here. The garden is still deep in the drifts.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It is cold at night, the breeze/wind makes it uncomfortable, but we have had plenty of sunshine for the past few days! That seems to make all the difference. I don't know about Seasonal Affective Disorder, but I do like sunshine. It isn't T-shirt weather by any means yet, but it is nice when you can get into the car after it has been sitting in the sun and it is already warm.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Love this thread. We can vent harmlessly. Great therapy for Spring Fever. Lousy forecast here, but not nearly as bad as the last 2 weeks. I should at least be able to visit the garden occasionally, and dream about nice weather to come, someday.
Hail!
Pea-sized hail on the patio just now after a beautiful sunny morning. Now I don't want to go out to the garden. I'm afraid to imagine what it did to my baby peas, kale, and radishes.countrynaturals wrote:Love this thread. We can vent harmlessly. Great therapy for Spring Fever. Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Looking for a high temp of 48F (9C) today and ... wait for it ... 57F (14C) on Saturday. But on Sunday we plummet back down to 27F (-3C). Crazy temperature fluctuations. The thawing and freezing is opening up a lot of pot holes on the roads.
The snow clearing company that clears our driveway contacted us because we have exceeded the snow limit for our contract. The default snow limit is 250 cm (98 inches). If we want them to come back we have to pay them more $$$. This is standard practice for all such companies in the city.

It has been in the 50s and 60s here with potential for record breaking 70s tomorrow before we get more seasonal 30s and 40s this weekend. It has been like this all "winter".
