My First frost date is listed for around the middle of September.(not sure if that is set in stone though...) Which means only about 8 weeks....is it too late this time round? My peas from the spring planting have only been out for a weekish. Do they come again, or once you pick or will they done??

Unless it gets very hot in your area, you may be able to get your peas to go all the way through the summer and into fall. You have a pretty early frost date. As long as they keep blooming, they will produce pods. They may need a pick me up or boost of compost midway though.

Debora, one key to understand with peas is that most would, without human intervention, just produce one crop of seeds and be done. By harvesting them while the pods are young and tender, you reset the process. Of course, other things like excessive heat will stop them from producing too. "Wando" is the best heat resistant variety I've tried. My frost date is much later and I haven't tried peas in the fall so I can't help you much there.

I have so much to learn about the garden. I made a wire trellis of three feet high and it didn't take very long for the vines to excede that height, and then one good wind, they bent over the top of the wire. I was devastated and thought they would die, but left them alone where they bent so I didn't break them. thought I could mabey wind them back in, but found the tubes to be hollow and break, so left them to do what they wanted. Next time, it will be much higher. When you are harvesting the peas, do you just take the pod, or do you cut back a little further?

wow! I just pulled the last of my peas. The harvest happened a long time ago, but the plants put up little sprouts near the ground, and I continued to find new yummy pods.

I noticed this week all the green was gone from the plant, and took them out.

I'm so looking forward to planting some more. I think I need to wait another month though.

If you plant shelling peas and snap peas pods, be sure to separate them so you don't get confused! The mature pods are easy to separate, but the babies all look the same!

peas are a bit resistant to light frosts at least.
I would give it a go.....
Often first and last frost estimates are frosts that are light and the weather is otherwise not bad....
