Late planting of squash
My SIL said that if you plant squash later in the season you will not get squash bugs (as they will already have set up shop somewhere else ). I'm not convinced-any thoughts? Has anyone else heard this?

Re: Late planting of squash
I don't know if this is true or not but it may not be an option for those with a short growing season even if it does work. Squash requires a very long growing season. If I were to put squash out later here, it wouldn't have time to grow, flower, and produce squash before fall frosts set in.

That's what I was thinking. Plus, I'm pretty sure squash bugs don't have a relocations clause built into their little bodies. It seems like if they smell em, they will come.

warm enough?
It's still getting too cold at night to plant squash down here in hobbs. Darn desert air gets up in the 90's for an hour then drops off in the low 40's upper 30's down here.....
