Great topic...fun posts! Being quarantined I just read all 6 pages since it is after dark and I already did my slug hunting. We don't compost bacon or steak. But if it is organic and does not have eyes it goes into the compost. DW is a wonderful chef and is still cooking for a family of 5 so the leftovers have to go somewhere!

My composting has been a failure for years using black plastic bins. Fortunately the worms found me and they do a very good job, just not enough speed and volume for our needs. so a few weeks ago (while on quarantine) I built this...as of tonight the left bay is full and was 150 degrees for 10 days and now is stable at about 130. The right bay is about half full.

When we put kitchen scraps into compost about every other day I cover with something, usually some grass clippings or shredded pine I buy for mulching beds.

So my question is this: Is it better to wait for the temperature to drop before turning? I'm hoping to only turn once, although I have a bulp planting auger for my drill and it would be easy to stir the pot with that so to speak'
