CHATING in the New Year Dec 31, 2011 to 1 Jan, 2012
Howdy Folks:
The SFG Dec. 23rd CHAT was a wonderful success. We had a number of forum members stop by and CHAT and the conversations were nice indeed and covered several topics including juicing, gardening in general and of course the best gardening method ever invented this side of the Garden of Eden - Square Foot Gardening. So what better way to start the new year off right then another SFG CHAT - this time on the evening of the 31st of December and if we old guys can stay up that late - keep right on going into the New Year by being on until after Mid-night. Time Zones may be a problem for some so for the sake of me on the East coast of the U.S. I'll try to be here at 7 PM Eastern Time. Of course anyone can start at any time so if you want to be here early or log in later it is not a problem. So what do you say? Let's give it a try.
God Bless, Ward and Mary, ROF
What is a SFG
CHAT? Well, in a nut shell it a function within the Square Foot
Gardening Forum where two or more SFG Forum members get together and
CHAT live with each other. While we try to keep the subject matter on
the topic of Square Foot Gardening we have been known to wander all over
the place.
There are two basic forms for a SFG CHAT.
One
is a formal hosted SFG CHAT with a member of the Square Foot Gardening
Foundation discussing the goals of the Foundation and also their
function within the Foundation. A formal CHAT will also have a
moderator to help keep the questions flowing and to make sure the topics
are SFG related. In the past there have been two such SFG CHATS.
The
second type of SFG CHAT is informal with no host. In the past informal
SFG CHATS have been either theme oriented or non-themed. An example of
an oriented theme was the Strawberry CHAT held some time back where
most comments and questions were on my favorite fruit - the strawberry.
A non-themed or "free-for-all CHAT is just that. Any and all questions
or comments about SFG and sometimes life in general are presented by
those who are CHATing.
Who can call a SFG CHAT? Any registered
SFG Forum member. When can a SFG CHAT be called? Anytime a SFG Forum
member wants one. How long before a SFG CHAT can a member call for a
CHAT? There is no requirement for advance notice before any two or more
members can start a SFG CHAT. Of course the longer in advance you
announce a SFG CHAT the more members you may have talking with you.
How
do you get to the CHAT? Log on to the SFG Forum normally. Click on
the word CHAT on the green bar on the top of the page. On the CHAT page
in the top right corner you will find "log in" Click on the "log in"
and you are in. You can also click on a color at the bottom of the page
so your print will show up in that color. Picking a color will help
other CHATers keep up with who is talking. You can also click on
emoticons if you desire.
One note of interest: There is a built
in 'time out' function that causes a logged in person to drop out of the
CHAT. It is a function of the software and cannot be adjusted. If you
happen to "time out" just log back in and you are right back where you
left off.
God Bless, Ward and Mary. Be there and be square.

Do we take a sip of our favorite adult beverage every time someone types SFG? Do variations count? SGF SFF FSG ?

Ohhhhh, kelly, I can see this chat getting out of control. I will be a designated driver (chatt-er?) cause my doc says not to drink alcohol because of some of the meds I'm on. Maybe I'll sip hot chocolate.

The more sips you take, the more variations there will be, guaranteed!kelly wrote:Do we take a sip of our favorite adult beverage every time someone types SFG? Do variations count? SGF SFF FSG ?

My Booty is here. Log On. I just put another log on the fire so I guess that counts as a "Log On"
