Should I be worried? I planted 2 kinds of peas on May 7. The packets say 65-70 days to harvest. There are no flowers on any of the plants. It's been pretty mild so far this summer so I was hoping that I might get some peas if I shade this box. But I guess no flowers = no peas right?

If your plants are looking green and healthy, give them more time. They will bloom when they are ready. From flower to table its only a matter of days. Confidence is high you will get peas. Very Happy

+1

Plants respond to the weather, not the calendar. They will be ready when they are ready.

What new gardeners aren't taught is that you, the human, must adjust to the life cycle of a plant.

I, too, tired peas for the first time this year. I, too, was worried when my plants were 4 feet tall and nary a flower. I started stressing over not using innoculant, shallow MM, absence of pollinators, etc etc etc.

I just backed off and said to myself, "if they flower and fruit, they flower and fruit." And, sooner or later they did. I had so many peas I stopped counting them.

We worry too much as gardeners. And, we overmanage. This year has taught me patience more than any other. Nature tends to fix itself in it's own time. Just trust it.

I planted 2 squares of sugar peas on April 19th and am just now getting blossoms so be patient. Weather has lots to do with growth.
