Strawberries and bears?
I've just planted my new strawberry bed! I'm so happy, then we had a day of nice rain all day. What a good start for my berries.
This past weekend, we have had a mamma black bear visiting us several times. After growing up here, and my folks living here for over 30 years we've never experienced such persistance in a bear before! Long story short, we finally got the garage 'bear proofed' and it should be the end of her visits.
But, now that I've got my strawberries planted, I'm wondering what will happen when berries start to come. Does anyone have experience with bears getting into their berry gardens? Our plan is to eventually fence in this new garden area with an 8 foot tall fence for deer. I'm wondering if it will be enough to keep bears out too.

I've got those too. At least the bear has shown absolutely no interest in my veggies! Not so with the little chipmunk fiends!
