Off to a good start!
So we are actually building our first attempt at SFG in the yard of our very close friends. (Our yard is tiny and shady while theirs is huge and sunny). We've got 4 beds built, 4x8. Filled with carefully assembled Mel's Mix. They are side by side with a trellis over the center aisle. Looks great. We got grids on two, and a bit of potato and tomato planting done before the torrential rain began this evening. I WILL take pictures next time we are there.
Funny thing. The little girl that lives next door to our friends wandered over to see what we were doing. We explained and she was quiet for a moment before commenting "This is so much nicer than our garden- we just put things in the ground".

Gotta love the bluntness of kiddos! And, you know she went home and told her mom that their garden stinks now.
Was her last name per chance "Jones?"

LOVE IT!
We had a guy stop here the other day and knock on the door and ask us what we were doing back there behind our house. LOL
We explained and he said my wife wants to have a garden and I don't wanna weed and till it for her, this is the ticket! LOL
I showed him the book and sent him to the bookstore. He was so excited! (of course I gave him the forum website as well!!)

It is so much fun when people stop on the street to ask about your garden. I had a lady stop by my place last year who works as an Occupational Therapist in a group home for mentally challenged individuals. She loved the whole idea so much and was going to institute it there.

Re: Off to a good start!
I had a neighbor I know stop (well, made her husband stop) and as she was getting out of the car, she was talking "Girl I am so glad you are outside". They came and looked, I told them about Mel's book and we visited for a bit. I sent them home with some radishes and 2 tomato plants......
