Am I the only "Husker" here?
Just wondering if I'm the only Nebraskan smart enough to do SFG.

Smart enough is awesome!!! I would say maybe so, but I grew up in Jayhawk territory. Maybe I truck in some wheat ears and we give you Huskers a run for your money? That ought to bring them out.
Oh, and how many NU football players does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Just one.....but he gets 3 hrs college credit for it!
Sorry....couldn't resist my favorite NU joke. Hope you find some people here. I'm sure you're not the only one.

We were STATIONED at Offutt AFB & had our second son there. Does that count?

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

!!! We just love it when some one else joins our movement, which is what some of us here on the SFG forum call SFG.
BBG, Aggie jokes are my favorite. However, I'm smart enought to know that the reason that Aggie jokes are so popular is that everyone else is jealous of the education they get.

Re: Am I the only "Husker" here?
My grandfather was an Aggie. His brother and rest of the family were Teasippers. Therefore, my "aggie" jokes fall on the Polish (since that's where most aggie jokes came from...I just give 'em back....or the Huskers get the brunt...lol).

Enjoy your turkey this Thanksgiving because the next day will be all heartburn in Lincoln, lol. There are a couple other Huskers that have posted just don't recall the handles. The new big ten should prove very interesting. Do you know if those mountains of sugar beet leftovers out west in Ne. get turned into compost and are recycled that way.

Welcome to the Big Ten! And yes, Ann Arbor jokes are the best! I may be a Cincinnatian, but I grew up in Columbus. I still bleed scarlet & gray! Nebraska - we're glad to have ya'.

My two favorite teams are The Hawkeyes and whoever is playing Nebraska. But I do immensely respect their football accomplishments especially during the Tom Osborn era. There was a cartoon in Omaha that showed a line of X's and one of O"s surrounded by squad cars. The caption read " An Oklahoma Football Practice". We may not consistently have the greatest athletics here but few schools produce as many major wrestling and football coaches as Iowa does. Yes welcome to the big ten Huskers you will make it much more interesting. And by helping to beat each other up brutally will guarantee us to remain just an average conference.

The Ron Zook era was as banner filled as the Don Zimmer era for an Illinois resident. Cubs fans have wiki'd all their coaches.......what a list!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Chicago_Cubs_coaches
As for the BigTen addition of Nebraska, the BigTwelve just got softer....thank you, from a Jayhawk. And, I'm sure the Wildcats and Tigers thank you, too.
Anyone else find it ironic that the BigTen has twelve teams and left the BigTwelve with only ten?

I'm happy to be in the Big Ten now as my hubby is a KState grad so I won't have to have divided loyalties anymore!
I see that we have the Cincy area and St. Louis well represented in our area but so far I'm the only current Nebraskan I have seen. Guess that really does make me a Smartchick!

Yep. That collection of sweet potatoes came out of a total of two squares two years ago. One was over 3 pounds and one was just under. I just ate the last 3 of them about a month ago and the other two are growing slips as we speak. Just waiting for it to get warmer so they can go in the garden!

Hi,
I'm new here and I live just south of Omaha. The kids want a garden and I've decided on doing a SFG, so I guess that makes us SFG virgins ;-)
But anyway, we're also in Nebraska so you don't have to feel alone anymore

Yay...fresh meat!!
Welcome aboard, Renate! Great to have another Husker joining in. You guys, I hope, will provide information about your area of the Midwest when you get settled in. I could use help getting to know climates and whatnot around the vast area we call the Midwest. Also, check the regional forum as you poke around.
You will find we love to kid around here, but we also love our SFGs. There are plenty of places to ask your questions, and we love looking at pictures. Pictures just clarify things so well when it comes to SFGing and issues therein.
I hope to see more of you around soon. Welcome again.

Yay! I'm not alone!
RenateA, welcome!
I've been doing SFG in Omaha for 3 years now so I'd be happy to provide insight here in the Omaha area as to prices, availability, etc. and what has worked for me and what hasn't.
