Do birds usually mess with seedlings?
I have a fence around the garden with 1" or less spaces btwn the bars which should keep out the adult rabbits. I bought some Repels-All to try and keep all other pests away from anything else. I am wondering if birds will bother my seedlings if I plant seeds. I will be looking for old cd's to put up around the fence to try and scare them away. Should I build a floating row cover as well?

So far, for me...the only seeds I have had problems with them stealing are sunflower seeds! But I know they will eat other seeds and seedlings...I have never seen anyone have a huge problem with it on here though...and a lot of people like the cd's and say they work well. I haven't tried that yet!

I have never had a problem but I have heard they love bean sprouts.

Re: Do birds usually mess with seedlings?
The first year we gardened here, I did not have any winter squash, and very few gourds from the birds swooping down and pulling the tops off of my seedlings. Hubby said rabbits, but there were no tracks, and just the tops were pulled off and left behind.....
