Sort of. I don't have time to be on the forum since I'm supposed to be working, but I've missed you guys SO MUCH!
For an overnight ICU hospital stay for carotid artery surgery, my mom spent 6 days in ICU, had multiple blood transfusions, received 4 broken ribs when she coded, another 5 days in a regular room in the hospital & has been in rehab since 9/10 to build her strength back up and will come home on 9/20 -- all due to a nursing error by the ICU nurse.
I got a chance to take pics of my Fall garden that fortunately I had planted before all this started on 8/31. The only attention it has had has been watering whenever I was home & had a chance.
In all my years gardening I have never had powdery mildew on my cukes, but it hit big time while I was away vines are about dead.
As soon as I can find my cord for the camera to download onto my computer, I'll post my pics.
Now to get back to work before my boss calls and asks me why I left a report open.

Oh, dixie, what a time you've had! And your poor mother. I'm glad she's on the mend and will be coming home soon.

It's been a rough time for you and your family, but so glad your Mom is on the mend and due home in just three days.
Hope you get those fall garden pictures downloaded. It is not your first priority, but we love seeing them.
Take Care and know you are in our thoughts.

I don't know you yet Dixie----but I'm sure i will eventually. I am sorry your mom has
been ill and glad she is getting better.
Late summer rain and muggy heat sure puts a hurtin on the gardens. Hope you got plenty
of use from your cukes before the mildew hit.

Dixie, we've missed you too!!!
Sounds like your mom is one tough lady, to pull through all of that. I hope she continues to hang in there and SO glad she's coming home soon!

We'll be here waiting whenever you have a moment to drop in.
Sorry about your cukes - the darned powdery mildew knew you were not around so it took it's opportunity to sneak in and do it's damage.

Glad you are back. It is good to hear your mom is doing better. You were on my mind and in my prayers. I was away visiting my mom too while you were gone. We almost lost her a bit over a year ago when her kidney specialist prescribed the wrong meds for her. Guess our medical people are human too. My mom is 87 and we just moved her a couple of months ago into a nursing home. She is not a happy camper and we are all struggling with the change, even though we know there is no other choice. And then, besides worrying about our ageing parents we have to fit in this working for a living and put up with bosses who expect us to do our jobs!! Sheesh! What is up with THAT??
Sucks that you lost the cukes. Did the rest of your garden do okay? The very day I got home, we had our first frost. Luckily it didn't freeze while I was gone so I didn't lose my tomatoes. I have covered them every night since I got home.
Thanks for stopping by. I am trying to get pics posted too.
All the best to you, your mom and your family.

Hi Dixie, I'm glad you're back too. I've been waiting on pins and needles-I might get to show you Peaches 'n Cream, northwest style!!!
But more importantly, I hope you're taking good care of your self, eh?

See, this is why I missed you folks. It's so nice to have extended family.
Boffer: Did you get Peaches & Cream after all?
Old Hippie: I know all about the unhappy camper syndrome. Mom hated the hospital & rehab, which was a unit at a nursing home. She was plain ol' mad at first, then she worked extra hard in rehab after we kept telling her she couldn't come home til she was able to get in & out of bed & get to the kitchen by herself. I've had DSL service installed at her house, which is just down the hill from my house, so I can work down there & keep an eye on her.
Martha, Trustinhart, & Megan: I had a steady supply of cukes all summer with succession plantings & have pickles galore, so I shouldn't really complain about the loss. I also found a bucket of rotten ones that I had picked before all the stuff with mom. The worms will appreciate that, but I sure have a lot of fruit flies.
I have posted pictures on my blog,Diggin' With Dixie.
It's the second post. I outdid myself & blogged twice today.
