Transplanting Zucchini.

Help please!!

I planted in one 4x4 foot garden 2 yellow bush (I think) zucchini, 4 green zucchini, 3 bell peppers, 1 cucumber and 1 crook neck yellow zucchini. The 2 bush zucchini are going NUTS and growing rapidly, and now my green zucchini and cucumbers are taking off. The bush plants are taking over the box and completely covering the bell peppers.

I am afraid that I'm going to kill my bell peppers if I don't move them, or move the zucchini. Any suggestions? Can I move them without hurting them? Which should I move? The 2 bush plants are about 18" apart. Do I need to separate them too?

Help!! =)

I would remove the peppers, with as big a root ball as you can get on the shovel. All the others will be very insulted to be removed and would probably die.

Seven squash plants and a cucumber in a 4x4?? You might consider thinning out some of the squash, too. You are going to have quite the knockdown-dragout Gladitorial Squash Ultra Smackdown Combat in your garden, otherwise.... Smile

Plus if they all survive, you will have a huge amount of produce on your hands.

Wow, that's an awful lot in a 4 by 4 bed. I plant only one zucchini in a 3 by 3 space in my beds. They should have about 18" of space all around each plant.

I, too, would move the peppers, You can plant your peppers just a bit deeper and get as much of the root as you can. They like to brush shoulders with one another so it would be good to plant two in adjoining squares.

This is my first garden and I've clearly outdone myself. I'll try to move the 2 bell peppers to my other box and pull the scallions from that box. They are 12" to 18" long at this point anyway, so they are ready to be harvested.

Can anybody tell me how to post pictures on this forum?

Very pretty jwbryson. The flowers are lovely but the little model is even prettier. Look at all those blossoms. I see fresh food coming soon.

Thanks very much. My camera was in the wrong "white balance" which made the photos look so blue. I'm having fun with the gardening thing (new to me), but wow, it's been a lot of work and no harvest yet except for some scallions which we ate last week. Very good flavor.

I'm hoping/praying that my tomatoes come in and my cuke's, peppers and squash work out well. Fingers crossed.

This weekend I dug up my 2 bell pepper plants and moved them to the other box. Let's hope they survive. I pulled all the scallions from those 2 squares to empty them, cut the scallions in 1/3's and froze them. Let's hope I haven't ruined those! Transplanting Zucchini. Icon_biggrin

I have about 6 smallish yellow zucchini that have pollinated and will be ready for harvesting in the next couple of weeks I am guessing. They grow quickly once they pollinate, correct? They are about 2" to 4" long.

My tomatoes seem to be hating life. I took some pics to ask for feedback but I forgot to bring my SD card to work. I'll post them tomorrow if my memory holds up that long.
