Propergating Strawberries

Howdy Gardeners:

In the, "ALL NEW Square Foot Gardening" book Mel tells us how to get the most berry production out of our existing/newly planted strawberry gardens. For those who are interested in expanding or renewing their strawberry beds I found the following to be of interest.

This link describes how to get your runners to set root so that they can then be planted on their own. It also states that strawberries will not run true to the mother plant if you take the seed and plant from them.

Thanks Ward. Very interesting. I have a strawberry section that is about half full and I was wondering if I could just use the runners to fill it up. Looks like I can.
