It is good to see gardens coming to life in Ottawa!

Re: Spring Gardening - Parsnips and Garlic
I have planted parsnips for the first time in a grow bag. Not even sure they've come up yet, as the dang birds keep pitching bird seed out of the feeder, which ends up in everything! If I have no success at this point, I may wait and try again in the fall. I love parsnips but they are SO expensive in the grocery store!

Parsnips take a very long time to germinate, up to 4 weeks. Lots of patience needed. Keep watering them.lisawallace88 wrote:I have planted parsnips for the first time in a grow bag. The "keep watering them" part is critically important, if the seeds are allowed to dry after planting they will not germinate. I have found that if I soak the seeds overnight before planting it will shorten the germination time by about a week.
