The Science of Composting - Cornell University paper
For those of you new to home composting, or wanting to improve your current method, I found this very interesting. I can't believe I read the whole thing.

For further reading, I recommend "Teaming With Microbes" by Lowenfels and Lewis.

Re: The Science of Composting - Cornell University paper
Here is a link to the USDA and The Soil Biology Primer. Dr. Elaine Ingham who wrote the Foreword for Jeff Lowenfels book, Teaming with Microbes is one of the creators of the concept of The Soil Food Web wrote many of the chapters and Dr. Clive Edwards of Ohio State University wrote the chapter on earthworms. A good place to start in understanding soil microbiology. Who would have thought we would have to go small to get the big picture on how to sustainably grow edibles?
