Hello from Almonte!
Hello fellow SF gardeners! It is cold but sunny here today, we have had a very slow, cold intro to spring but are on the downward slide now.
I have held one workshop so far and another coming up May 11th at the library in the next town.
So many new folks moving to our area and downsizing houses and yards so SFG should be a very welcome option for those wanting to grow vegetables in small spaces.
I have been teaching for about 5 years, covered many horticultural groups, some in private backyards, including my own and enjoy very much introducing this unique method to new and longtime gardeners. When I figure out how, I will send some photos of my own boxes which are at waist height which I love!!! My dear husband humours my every request with my garden interests and has even built boxes for some of my customers. This year will be a little unusual as we will be out of the country for 2 weeks in June just when all my plants will need some tender care. It will be a lovely surprise to see the growth when we return.
Bye for now.....Carolyn

Welcome, Carolyn! Sounds like the same spring we have had...wet and cold! But change is the only constant, so we will just hang in there! So glad you joined, can’t wait to hear from you! There is a Canadian regional post thread, you will find it on the home page.

from Northern California. Can't wait to see pics of your waist-high boxes. That's what I have, too. Do you have someone to take care of your garden while you're out of the country or do you have an automatic watering system?
Re: Hello from Almonte!
Welcome Carolyn from down the road in Ottawa. I attended your workshop in Pakenham. I hope the flooding in the Ottawa Valley is not having an impact on you.

Re: Hello from Almonte!
Hi, Carolyn, from central California! I take it you are a CI?? If so, your title needs to be added. I will be away for a week, but if someone reminds me when I get back . . .
I have a small urban SFG so I share the challenges with city folks in the same position. Looking forward to your photos!

Cpme and visit the Canadian thread of which I am the Host.
I, too, will be out of my home from near end of June to end of July so am only keeping my garden tidy this year as I may be downsizing some time due to admitting to getting a little older and also having possible new interests in my future.
