The bad penny's been found again.
Hello square footers and other assorted gardening afflicted folk . It's been almost a four months since I last posted .
I had to take on board a brand new all in one "windows 10 infected " computer and learn how to do a voice to type package as things called , " My fingers " , weren't working too well . I kept clacking on the wrong keys and typed more rubbish than usual.
I've also had a complete left knee replacement ( April 2017 ) ..it's taken a bit longer than I thought it would for me to get going with it again and accept a whole new large box of personal limitations & major irritations that go with it. As ever the old back problems are there and being brutally honest they will only get worse from now on. I'm coping better with things now that Alison is taking more of an interest in the heavy work in the gardens, glasshouse & around the home. Still we've managed to keep the gardens going through out the period from last Easter through to this summer .
I never thought we'd get slapped with these high temps, as Spring was a cold wet dismal failure, then suddenly sun & lots of it for days on end. Hottest we have recorded in our backyard was 38 oC as it is a suntrap area. But in the shade in the bungalow its often been 30.5 oC for most of the day from 10.00 hrs till 19.30 hrs.
Thank goodness I spent the money ca. $ 500 USD (?) I did & installed a major system of micro spray head irrigators on water control time clocks around the gardens etc. .
Three buckets worth of mains tap water via the spray heads twice a day around the whole of my gardens & 1/4 bucket in the glass house when it's a bit cooler (currently just below 25 oC @ 2030 hrs ) has seen gardens & glasshouse thriving whilst everyone else's is looking like a failed light brown haystack.
We have had some serious butterfly egg laying sessions ..I've had to resort to insect spraying as almost all of my hundred of more brassica have been well and truly attacked by newly hatched baby caterpillars at least four times in the last three months .
I'll not be posting as much as I used to ... As often happens to folk, life has intervened , brought an interest I used to have dear to my heart to the fore and given me the chance to get more involved.
Happy SFGing
Dave.

Dear Dave, I am SO glad you checked in with us. I was wondering. I am glad to hear your garden trudges on, despite all. Enjoy your revived interest, heal and cope as best can be, and every once in awhile check in and set us straight.
Best to you,
Turan

My dear Plantoid, I was going to PM you tomorrow to see how you were doing. I'm glad you are still puttering in the garden and that Alison has been able to help. Please do post when you can. You are part of this family.
