Hello from Pennsylvania!!
Hello! Just checking in to introduce myself!
This year, I am new not only to square foot gardening, but gardening in general! I have put in three beds so far, and am successfully growing tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, hot peppers, watermelon, squash and pumpkin! Although, I did lose all of my onions and bush beans - I think because of the crazy PA weather this year!
Based on my limited success this year, I am seriously considering putting in 7-8 more beds next year, to produce enough food to dry/can/freeze to last my family through the winter :-) As I begin that journey, I am sure I will have some questions, and, maybe, will even be able to answer a few along the way!!
Look forward to "hanging out" here!

Re: Hello from Pennsylvania!!
Welcome Erin!
Have any pictures of your beds? It's always fun to see what other people have been doing. Glad you're doing so well so soon!
I've lost plenty of beans and had others produce zilch over the past two years because of too much sun. Some got killed or stunted in a single day that took them from beauty to very ugly beast. Others that were only in sun a few hours a day thrived. Is that what happened to your beans -- too much sun?

Hi Erin and
I'm your neighbor in central Maryland and the weather here has been crazy!
The Forum is definitely the place for your SFG and general gardening questions.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Re: Hello from Pennsylvania!!
Welcome, welcome Erin. I live in the Atlanta area, originally from Los Angeles. However, on my mom's side of the family, we come from Pennsylvania. Mom grew up near Pottsville, Pennsylvania in a town called Minersville. Is that near you? (You mentioned Pottstown.)
I'm excited for you as you start your gardening. It's a fun time and folks here are ready to help with ideas and good advice. I wish you much success!
