Pest on my strawberries

I noticed a few holes on a few of the leaves. What can I use as an insecticide? Spray or powder, or are any of them safe to use?

Slugs are very common strawberry pest but it's a good idea to know exactly what the pest is so you can treat appropriately for that critter.

I am super bummed we have lost most of our strawberries to ants 
We have tried everything but major insecticide (we won't be able to eat the fruit if we use it). We tried cinnamon, mint, insecticidal soap, nothing seems to help. Not sure what else to do at this point. Any suggestions are welcome!
