Hi, discopy and . You will find that is a great place to be. If you are in any doubt, just ask questions and you will get good answers. Remember, there are no dumb questions, we all had to start somewhere. Besides, we like to show off our knowledge.
If someone gives you an incorrect answer, the better informed of us will give you the corrected one.

Re: Hello
Hey, Disccopy, Glad to see you come aboard! What variety of asparagus are you planting? And what fall garden plants do best in your area? Kales? Carrots? Have you considered garlic? Inquiring minds want to know. And, Welcome!! Nonna.PapaVino

Re: Hello
Thanks for the welcome. I have 4 Jerseys and 2 Martha Washington's.. I got 2 yr crowns from my local nursery and feed store.. Didn't want to order a large quantity so I opted for local crowns.Nonna.PapaVino wrote:Hey, Disccopy, Glad to see you come aboard! What variety of asparagus are you planting? Garlic will be a must have and as I'm still getting used to what I can plant here in the fall I'm not sure if I will get anything in though hope to be ready in the spring and then next fall. Only been in this area a little over a yr

Re: Hello
Welcome disccopy!
Good choice on the asparagus planting. Those plants last so long you can pass the beds down as heirlooms.
Re garlic, I think it might have been at Hood River Garlic that I read that you can plant garlic every month of the year, as long as you're physically able to get it in the ground. It's incredibly tough, except for that if left to itself in the wild it will grow so closely you'll get tiny cloves as they all crowd each other too close, and fends off most diseases and insects. Anyway, you may have more latitude than you think when it comes to planting times. There are good garlic threads here; be sure to read them -- do a search or page page a bit if you have to.
One of the great things about a gardening forum is it's pretty hard for it to go out of date, so the old forum pages aren't pointless to look up. Garlic will still be garlic in 2015 just like it was in 2009, etc.
