Hello from NJ
Hi! I'm Caitlin, and I just signed up for the instructor certification course beginning on May 6.
I have a raised vegetable garden in our backyard, and have been using square foot garden spacing guidelines since reading the book 5 or so years ago. Looking forward to learning more in the course!
My church started the Somerset Community Garden in 2010, and I'm looking forward to sharing what I learn with our garden neighbors. We have approx. 70 10x10 garden plots, and many of our members are first-time gardeners and/or wanting more info about what & how to plant. Lots of families & kids.
Really looking forward to learning and sharing more about square foot gardening!

Re: Hello from NJ
Caitlin Hello ,
Welcome to the site. you say you have used the idea of five years ago ..
If you don't have the latest book the details are in my strap lines ..
Things have moved on quite a bit to a better material for you to grow in , it is soil less growth medium. Once made you keep feeding a square with quality home made compost every time you take some thing out of the square .
It works well all round the world .
Hopefully someone will pick up this thread ( who lives a lot nearer to you )

Re: Hello from NJ
Hi Caitlin! Welcome!
I just finished the class, so I know you'll have a good time.
Plantoid's right. I'm sure there's some folks closer to you & you need to get the 2nd edition. I've read all 3 of them and Mel's made it easier than ever in the new one!
Again, welcome!
