Above 4000'

I am now in Warner Springs at 4200'. I looked it up in the Western Garden guide and made a chart of when to plant what. According to my chart, I can plant year 'round. So went to a local nursery and the guy said "nobody plants here until Memorial Day". Seriously? That is true of my NEW ENGLAND family. There is no way!

So I planted. Things are sprouting. We are well past our last frost - esp this year. Even have a tomato in although I put a cage around it and wrapped it in plastic. Looking forward to some year 'round gardening even if it means the odd hoop house in the worst months.

Anyone else have experience at this elevation?

Uh, I'm right at sea level on the Texas Gulf Coast. I'm sure you can do this. It just takes research and determination; but for you, probably not as much sweat:-)
