Re: My Compost
4 squares meaning beds that are 4'x4'? Each bed would be 16 sqf and 4 of them would total 64 sqf.

Re: My Compost
I was questioning the numbers also but I think he has it right after I checked the math. If he has 4 4x4 beds that is 64 sq ft. If you are planting to a depth of 12 inches then that would be 64 cu ft (4x16x1=64). If you are taking the same area and filling to only 6 inches then you are looking at 32 cu ft (4x16x0.5=32). Again we are both assuming he is talking about 4 4x4 beds when he says 4 squares.

O! Right! Duh!
Thank you on that. I decided at last to speak up because I had this image of all that work and then only half the boxes filled and that would be so disappointing.

Rabbit Compost
Hi Tompcudd,
I'm just wondering... Is this the rabbit compost you bought from Amazon?
http://www.amazon.com/Rabbit-Hill-Something-Special-lb/dp/B002T0AGBW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393522780&sr=8-1&keywords=Rabbit+Hill+Something+Special+4+lb.+bag+%286%29
I think this has more than just rabbit compost. I see a few other things noted in product specifications... However, I still think this is a great option and I may buy some myself.
I see (6) in product heading. Surely this does not mean you get six bags? This is a bit confusing to me.

Re: My Compost
Five way compost for setting up the initial MM filled beds . five is the MINIMUM number of different types of stuff to do a good job. If you can get 6 , 7 or 8 so much the better the range of available nutrients & trace elements will usually be much better .
No repeating a product common to two or more types of stuff
IE
Three pre bagged items might have straw , peat and wood product in all three of them .. that means an overdose of all three items .
Dung from different animal species :-
They can usually be reasonably safe if combined with other materials & well composted too much neat dung will cause problems .
