Here's a project to work on while we wait for spring.  The bag is crocheted from plastic bags cut into strips.  Use only food grade bags you get from the grocery store.  It takes 65 bags or more depending on how large you make it.  http://cricketsongfarm.blogspot.com/2014/02/make-farmers-market-bag-from-recycled.html

Use this bag to harvest vegetables from your garden, or take it to fill up at your local Farmer's Market.

I had to smile whilst reading the link .

Over here we have to pay ( legally passed ) 5 pence for each plastic carrier bag so 65 X 5 =£3.25p

Most of the bags are also bio degradable so after three of four trips out in the sunshine the bags are in tatters barely able to carry a feather let alone groceries and veg.  We can get a bag made from recycled plastic soda pop bottles for £ 1.10 and they last several years.

Thanks for the post. It seems easy enough. And no one has to know if ya don't do it exactly correct! Now, where did I put the crochet hooks?
I usually use the bags themselves to carry veggies, seeds, etc, but this bag could be rinsed and re-used.

i will have to pass on to the wife, as I can't crochet
i remember she was enamored with a woman in Africa that made a living crafting trendy and chic handbags from plastic bags (or similar) she got from the dump or whatever she could find (as seen in a documentary).
