August Update pics
Made another three gallons of salsa this weekend...went into the freezer instead of canning or pressure cooking...went hot this time with jalapenos and habaneros.
Continuing to pick cukes and tomatoes...need to pick tomatoes at the community garden again tomorrow...I'll definitely grow English Chelsea cukes again next year...they produce well and stay sweet and tender at about 18" long. I think the short cuke is County Fair (supposedly the only wilt resistant cuke on the market).
More tomatoes and cukes...some from my SFG some from my space in the community garden.
Beet seeds (Detroit Red) are up after about four days.
Spinach seeds are up after about four days...so far I've planted Tyee, Baby Catalina, Bordeaux, Summer Perfection, Oriental Giant, and Monstrueux de Viroflay. Carrot (Kuroda, Nantes, Royal Chantenay) and Lettuce (Black Simpson, Baby Romaine, Bibb) planted at the same time has yet to come up.

Wow, I love seeing your updates, everything looks sooo beautiful (and delicious)! I have never froze salsa before, does it freeze well?

Three gallons of salsa??? Holy cow!
Looking at that wonderful harvest, I can see where you got the ability to put that much away. Very nice!

Re: August Update pics
cheyannarach , this will be my first year freezing salsa...friends and family freeze instead of using a pressure cooker or water bath. I used gallon and quart freezer bags. Freezing is easier than canning up front, but you have to thaw it out ahead of time before you use it.
I use salsa with chips, breakfast burritos, etc...but I'm about done for the year...already giving some away. Trying different levels of "hotness" on different batches. I also found a new recipe for Tomato Bisque so I'll freeze tomatoes for that as well.
Carrots have come up in the last day.
I planted some cabbage and cauliflower seedlings...already found inch-long cabbage worms on them so I bought some tulle to cover...need to get out there today and cover a bit better...never used tulle before.
