So, was planning to do a garden last year, but time got away from us and it didn't happen. This year, the same thing, daughter had 2 proms and of course graduation. We are in the midst of planning her graduation party rock on and of course want to have a nice looking garden to show off... so, we hastily (and finally) planted a bed-- TODAY?!?!?! So, between seeds and some plants, if we can get a 50% return on our work, we will be quite happy, no make that ecstatic!!! So, here is the garden:
Quite a bit late, but hoping for the best! 97198613

North is to the left of the garden...

Golden Beets; Super Sonic Tomato; St. Valery Carrots; Little Finger Carrots
Early Wonder Beets; Sun Sugar Tomato; St. Valery Carrots; Little Finger Carrots (this will be a 2nd planting in 2 wks)
Romaine Lettuce; Sweet 100 Tomato; Blue Lake Bush Beans; Dragon Tongue Beans (beans are under the cage)
Spinach; Beefsteak Tomato; Orange Bell Pepper; Early Wonder Beets (2nd planting)
Radishes (Scarlet / Giant); Sunflower; Green Bell Pepper; Golden Beets (2nd planting
Cucumbers; OPEN SQUARE; Tabasco Pepper; Jalapeno Pepper
Zucchini; White Onion; Red Onion; Yellow Onion
We also have (3) 5 gallon buckets with Roma Tomatoes for salsa!
Now, I know the hot weather is not good for some of these, but I tried to plant them where they would get shade... and if they don't work out, I will use the seeds in the fall garden...Just want to see what happens. We ran out of materials for the additional cages to protect the seeds from birds, but he will get get more and finish tomorrow or Tuesday. We are also going to put conduit in for the tomatoes and zucchini and make a trellis for the cukes...
My neighbor has a small 4x4 garden and is watching us intently, saying he hopes it works, because the soil around us if full of clay and hard to grow in. He wants to give it a go if we have success!
So, now that that's mostly done, it's time to get serious and plan the fall garden with the veggies the hubby loves... maybe we will get this one in the beds on time!

Quite a bit late, but hoping for the best! Empty Rain, Wind, Tornado??

So, my little plants were not affected by yesterday's nasty weather... just trying to keep an eye out on the seeds I planted, hoping they are all ok.... especially the carrots - instructions on the packet said not to put seeds in the ground but to put them on top of the soil and if wanted, cover with a thin layer of soil - which is what I did... will have to keep an eye out for any sprouts.... hubby finished the rest of the cage / covers and we were able to get them on last night... here's to not expecting much, but hoping for the best!
