Question about buying compost from individual on Craigslist
I found someone in my area who is selling compost on Craigslist. My question is....If I purchase compost from this individual, will this count as only one of the 5 types or can I buy all that I need from him?
Also, this is what the ad says:
"Aged and screened Compost. Not fresh manure, has been aged and broken down!! Looks like RICH BLACK dirt. Excellent for enriching and loosening garden and flower bed soils. Spread over area and till or mix into soil for maximum benefits. $25.00 per yard."
Does this seem like a good deal and is there anything that I should be asking before I purchase?
Thanks for the help!!

Re: Question about buying compost from individual on Craigslist
I'd ask what's in the compost. Is it just aged manure (if so, what kinds, )? Were the animals that produced the manure exposed to pesticides, herbicides, etc., in their feed?
If manure is the sole ingredient, it will count as ONE component of your Mel's Mix. If it also contains other materials, such as leaves, composted forest humus, kitchen waste, etc., you might be up to two or three.
More than likely, it's just composted manure. Please let us know.

Re: Question about buying compost from individual on Craigslist
I picked up a bunch of compost from our local recycle center.
I was told it was from brush & clippings.
When I mixed. I also added to each 5 gal bucket.
pint chickee doo doo, bowl of mushroom manure, bowl of finished horse manure, bowl of cow manure, 1 other item I forget. bowl of.
Everything came out nicely, I have some cold weather plants in it now and they are doing very nicely.
