Siberian Garlic
Anyone grow the hardneck variety of garlic: Siberian?
This past fall I planted two new (to me) varieties: Chesnok Red and Siberian. All the Chesnoks are alive and putting up 1-2 leaves. The Siberian have yet to show life--one might be starting. Is Siberian a little slower to wake up?

My hardneck garlic is slow too, I think I see the first shoot starting to poke through the MM. The softneck garlic is 3"+ tall already. I just have to be patient.

Thanks camprn! I've only grown softnecks before and I've always experienced them up and raring to go too--I'm hoping some warmer weather and some patience will give me a square full of Siberian garlic in addition to my Chesnok.

Nice! When did the frost lift for you (or maybe the ground doesn't freeze by you?). We had a very cold March and we're at 4th wettest April with 10 days to go with much below normal temperatures--our soil is wet and quite cold, so I'm hoping that's just the problem.

Re: Siberian Garlic
I'm really in cold country now!
I expect intermittent freezing temps for a while yet, and it can freeze any day of the year here.
Although the Mel's Mix in that bed froze for a while, it also warmed up quickly, and I've generally kept everything covered with two layers of frost cloth, plus a 6mm layer of plastic sheeting. Tonight, however, I'm using only the two layers of frost cloth.
