Help with math please...
I can order Mels Mix in 1.5 cubic bags from Home Depot.
How many bags will I need to order for a 4x4 bed ?
Thanks for any help, my math isn't adding up.

4' x 4' x 6" = 8 cu ft. 6 bags x 1.5 cu ft = 9 cu ft. Get 6 bags, it will give you 1 cu ft extra to use when the beds settle.

Model # NW 11760 Internet # 203272590 Store SKU # 375404 - 1.5 cu. ft. Square Foot Gardening Potting Soil Mix
Hmmm. The price is great and I wish it were so, and I even see Mel's picture on the bag, but it doesn't specifically state the product as being 'Mel's Mix' but rather a 'potting soil mix'. The components are not listed by Home Depot either. The Natures Way website does not find the product when searching by either name or by 11760.

I think the premade Mel's mix is called Garden Time. Here's a link that might help.

This is what we ordered from Home Depot. It is what is listed as Mel's Mix on the Squarefootgardening.org website. And also on Mel's Blog. http://www.squarefootgardening.com/garden-accessories/garden-potting-soil/

Re: Help with math please...
That seems pretty expensive. $9 for 1.5 cubic feet. Am I wrong about that?

Mel's Mix Caluculator:
https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/h22-mel-s-mix-calculator
Mel's Mix is packaged differently and goes by two different names at Lowe's and Home Depot.
There is a price to pay for convenience, and yes, in most cases it is more expensive to purchase the pre-made mix.

re: help with math please.
Thank you all for your input on Mels Mix. shipping 6 bags cost almost as much as the mix itself. They don't carry it near me for store pickup. I'll just measure new mix using a 5 gal bucket.
