Greenhouses from ANSFG book
In the ANSFG book, there is a section that shows how to use PVC to build a couple of different types of frames to go over your raised beds, and then you can use them to throw a blanket over the bed, or a cover, or clear plastic.
Anyone in our region try this using clear plastic to make a simple raised bed greenhouse, and how well did it work? What thickness plastic did you use?

Hi,
Im not in your region, but I did use the 1/2 inch pvc to make the structure. I bought the pvc in 10' length and cut it about 20" off because my beds are 3.5' . I bought 3.5 mil plastic sheeting at Home Depot. 10'x 25'. (Found it in the paint area). I figure that the sheeting "might" last until autumn because it doesnt say it is uv stablized. I will take it off the beds as soon as we stop getting freezing weather. I also went to an office supply store and got the biggest clips they had so I could clip the plastic sheeting to the pvc. At the bottom I have some bricks that lay on top of the sheeting. Last time I checked it was warm in there and the Mels Mix was warm too. Ive been setting a flat of tomatoes/hot peppers/eggplants in there until it gets shaded and they are doing great! Already getting their first true leaves.
Forget to say that the pvc is inside the bed and I tied the top x with wire. Made it trough the howling winds we got here Twice! 50 MPH gusts.
