Redwood Boxes, Seal or Not To Seal?
Hiya folks!
OK, I bought redwood for my boxes because it is supposed to be termite resistent. I'll be putting together a 3' x 12' x 6" box, using soaker hose to water. Should I apply water sealant on the outside of the redwood box or not? Will sealing it defeat the purpose of using redwood? We don't get alot of rain here in El Paso, TX.
Hopefully I'll have some pics up soon showing our progress!

red or silver
If you want the wood to keep the red tint go ahead and seal it. If you want the aged silver color let it go for a few seasons then seal it up.

Re: Redwood Boxes, Seal or Not To Seal?
I guess my question should be if I apply water sealant to the box will it weaken or defeat the natural ability of the wood to deter termites and other pests?
