Onion

My wife's aunt came by a few weeks ago and dropped off some food because she was leaving for a few weeks. She brought over some onions and one of the onions started sprouting. Should I try planting it in the soil as is or do I need to cut the bottom off?

Onions are biennials, so you could plant it as is and then harvest the seed. I doubt you would get a new onion out of it.
