My first harvest for a few months!
Harvested my broccoli today, first thing I've gotten out of my garden for a few months and it was my first ever broccoli.
It was about 16cms (6 1/2") across and weighed 405g (about 14oz).
The pet mice are now enjoying a couple of the small leaves that I cut off!
Noticed that a couple of the big leaves have a purple central vein too, very cool!

That's such a neat broccoli - I've seen it advertised in the Territorial Seed co. catalog.
Congrats on your first ever broccoli!

That's an amazing looking broccoli. I'd want to stick it in a vase and use it as a flower it's so pretty.

Lol CC! It is rather pretty, that's why I picked that variety, why grow the boring stuff you can buy in the shops?!
I also have a purple cauliflower growing so I can't wait to see what that looks like.
Over summer I'll also go back to the purple carrots and I bought red and yellow ones too which my 7yo son is dying to try!

Re: My first harvest for a few months!
I've been a bit busy lately so I hadn't been back to update, the broccoli was yummy! This was the first night, just lightly steamed, it looked so colourful I had to take a pic. The rest of it got eaten bit by bit, raw in salads and was good both ways.
This was my other recent harvest and I made a spinach, feta and leek quiche. No pics of that, it was so yummy that it disappeared very quickly.
44" root to tip, pretty impressed with that for a first attempt at growing leeks. Mind you, the rest of them aren't as big as that one, probably as tall but not as fat.

I've seen that broccoli variety advertised, but never grew any. I'm glad to hear its tasty. It'll be something new to try next year among my cool weather plants.
